historical places


Red Fort – It was built in 1638 by the great Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. It was made in red stone; that's why it is called red fort or laal qila  in Hindi language.

Qutab Minar- It is the highest minaret in India; almost 250 feet above the ground. It is situated in Mehrauli in Delhi.

Humayun's Tomb- Humayun was the second Mughal emperor and son of Babar. After his death his tomb was made in this garden in the mughal style. The garden has been divided into many squares or blocks which make a beautiful view.

India Gate- It is situated in the centre of Delhi. It was designed in 1921 by Edwin Lutyens. It is a memorial for soldiers who lost their lives for the safety of nation. It is a great picnic spot for people of Delhi.

Jama Masjid – It is situated opposite to Red fort. It is the largest mosque in India. It was the last monument made by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. A sum of Rs.10 lakh was spent on its construction.

Jantar Mantar- It is an astronomical observatory situated in Connaught circus. It was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur in the year 1724. Maharaja made four more such observatories at different places.

Rashtrapati Bhawan or Parliament House- It was designed by Edward Lutyens during the British rule in India. Now, it is the official residence if the President of India. Hence it is called Rashtrapati Bhawan in India. It occupies 340 rooms.
